About Lanhydrock estate

Steeped in over 400 years of history, Lanhydrock Estate is one of Cornwall’s most storied country estates, renowned for its exceptional game shooting, rich heritage, and breathtaking landscapes. Built in the early 17th century, the grand house and surrounding parkland have long been associated with the family, who played an integral role in shaping the region both economically and socially.

The Robartes family were not only influential landowners but also dedicated stewards of the countryside, the 7th Viscount Clifden gifting the house and parkland to the National Trust in 1953, the bulk of the estate’s ownership was kept to be managed by the remaining family.

Their tenure with a name change to Williams through marriage saw the estate become a bastion of sporting tradition, with game shooting evolving over generations to become one of the finest in the South West. Their commitment to conservation, land management, and the promotion of sustainable field sports ensured that Lanhydrock would retain its standing as a premier shooting destination for centuries to come.
